Trekking in Val d’Orcia: the most suggestive places

It starts from Pienza, one of the main villages of the Val d’Orcia, a real stone dream conceived by the future Pope Pius II. Reach the Pieve di Corsignano and leave from there for your journey to discover the Val d’Orcia! Take the SP 18 and continue nimbly to the first stage of our journey, La Quercia delle Checche. A monumental and ancient oak under whose branches you can also rest and relax in the heart of nature. Then go back and take the SP53 towards Bagno Vignoni. Bagno Vignoni is a real thermal jewel: with its springs known since the times of the ancient Romans, this small village is gathered around the large central basin that occupies the square. Take the opportunity to cool off in the gorelli, streams of thermal water that flow in Parco dei Mulini before resuming your journey on the Cassia, the SR 2 towards San Quirico d’Orcia. The road now proceeds uphill but do not worry: you will have arrived in San Quirico d’Orcia in just 4 km! Here is San Quirico d’Orcia: a suggestive medieval village, ideal for a refreshment stop before returning to your destination. To return to Pienza take the SP 146 where you can photograph the famous cypresses of San Quirico. Finally, reach the Pieve di Corsignano, the starting point of our trekking route in Val d’Orcia.

As it is a really wonderful but long enough route, if you don’t feel like walking it in its entirety you can divide it into smaller portions and tackle it a little a day, but we assure you that it will be worth it!
