La locanda di Vergelle

In the heart of the Crete Senesi, in the most iconic and wild Tuscany, is the pretty Borgo di Vergelle, a small fraction of the Municipality of San Giovanni D’Asso. Here in the lands of the white truffles of the Crete Senesi, between Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino is the Locanda di Vergelle, the restaurant of the Vergelle farmhouse, opened by the Cosseddu and Chionne family, after starting the dairy business. Here, the young chef Elisa offers typical dishes of the Tuscan and Sardinian tradition, as well as some revisited and creative dishes, blending different gastronomic traditions.

In the kitchen and in the preparation of desserts and pasta, the mother collaborates, while the expert in embers and “Porcheddu” (although being Umbrian) is his father Claudio. The pastas are hand-made in the traditional way, the meats are exclusively from the area, the cheeses are those of the family dairy and the wines are those of the adjacent hills of the Montalcino area.

Here you can find specialties such as roast suckling pig on reservation, and of course, the very tasty Florentine. Finally, the restaurant also has a room where you can hold business meetings, courses, banquets for communions, weddings, dinners or business lunches. On request we organize small cooking courses.
