Among the vineyards of Brunello di Montalcino

The route from Sant’Antimo and Montalcino round trip is a truly suggestive itinerary. A journey through the vineyards where the Brunello that has made this land famous all over the world is produced. This itinerary presents a rather demanding initial climb and a return downhill among the large vineyards, it is pleasant for an average trained person. However with an e-bike it is accessible to anyone who wants to enjoy these beautiful landscapes. It starts from Castelnuovo dell’Abate: you can decide whether to visit the splendid Abbey of Sant’Antimo at the beginning or at the end of the itinerary but you certainly can’t miss it. Sant’Antimo is a monastic complex completely surrounded by greenery, a place of meditation and retreat where you can disconnect from the frenetic pace and re-embrace the slow pace of nature.

The itinerary starts by immediately taking the dirt road that leads to Sant’Angelo in Colle with a continuous ups and downs; after 7 km you will reach the asphalted road and continue turning left. From here continue uphill reaching, after about 5 km, the Passo del Lume Spento. Continue descending towards Montalcino, and once you reach the capital of Brunello it will be a beautiful long ride downhill for 9 km that will take you back to the Abbey of Sant’Antimo.

The itinerary is of medium difficulty and requires scarce two hours: so take the opportunity to visit both the Abbey and the splendid Montalcino, rich in history, monuments and … one of the most renowned wines in the world, Brunello di Montalcino!
